Kate Middleton and Prince William have returned to the Welsh countryside. The Prince and Princess of Wales arrived in Wales on Thursday afternoon, just over a week before King Charles and Queen Camilla's coronation. They met members of the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team, who risk their lives to keep walkers and climbers safe on the adjacent mountain range. The pair, who like outdoor sports and the countryside, took advantage of the opportunity to participate in training activities such as climbing, medical support exercises, and a search dog rescue demonstration. Hiking and rural hobbies are popular leisure activities in the neighboring Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (renamed from the Brecon Beacons) in the heart of Wales, attracting thousands of visitors each year. On clear days, queues of trekkers will form around the neighboring Pen y Fan mountain (the highest point in southern Britain). This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue teams, which respond to emergency calls from injured trekkers. Following their activities with the experts, Prince William, 40, Patron of Mountain Rescue England and Wales, and Princess Kate met with current volunteers to learn about their duties and rescue experiences. Their visit is an important aspect of their continued immersion in Wales since becoming Prince and Princess of Wales following Queen Elizabeth's death in September. For today's hectic activities, the Princess of Wales chose silver earrings and £90 G-Star pants.
